The Storage of Protein, Fat, Glycogen and Uric Acid in the Fat Body and Other Tissues of Mosquito Larvae
نویسنده
چکیده
IT is generally agreed that the main function of the fat body of insects is the storage of those reserve substances which require rapid mobilization during moulting and metamorphosis. But little attention has been given to the part taken by other organs and tissues in building up reserves and almost none to the influence of the composition of the food upon the type of reserve substance laid down. These problems form the subject of the present paper. Mosquito larvae have been starved until all their reserves have been consumed. They have then been fed upon single substances and the storage of protein, fat and glycogen in the various tissues observed.

Oral supplementation with potassium bromide (10, 20 and 40 ?g/ml) to fifth instar larvae of CSR2, CSR4 and CSR2xCSR4 crossbreed races of the silkworm, Bombyx mori resulted in a significant increase in the fat body glycogen in all the treated groups and in all the three races of the silkworm, B. mori. The fat body protein content was increased with 20 and 40 ?g/ml treated groups in CSR2 and CSR4...

A bivoltine silkworm hybrid, KA x NB4D2 was treated with the juvenoid R394 (Ethyl-9 cyclohexyl-3,7-dimethyl-2,4-nonadienoate) at a dose of 0.039 nl/larva at 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of 5th instar for silk yield improvement. Treatment specific significant increase was observed in the cocoon and shell weight with no such marked variation in the shell percentage. Notable changes were also seen in tr...

In this study, the effect of diet food (soybeans, egg yolk and chicken manure) on biomass weight and body composition (the amount of protein, fat, moisture and ash) Chironomid larvae were examined. For this purpose, 2.5 grams of food per Coconut considered in the period, with three replicates and Chironomid larvae during the period of 15 days in plastic pans were kept in nutrition. The results ...
